Ray Wind Farm Community Fund – Information Events

The fund is due to commence mid-2017 and will run for the lifespan of the wind farm, which is expected to be 20 – 25 years.

Following a detailed local consultation, in which the local community within 10km of the wind farm shared their views on the fund, Vattenfall appointed a Steering Group of local representatives, tasked with ensuring that the fund is used to provide the greatest possible benefit for local people; working across Parish Council boundaries and with local organisations.

A series of information events are now being held so that you can find out more about progress, have your say on the priorities that are emerging, and find out how you can apply for funds.

Ray Wind Farm Community Fund Steering Group – Get Involved

Ideas review

We are in the process of forming a steering group of local people from Bavington, Birtley, Corsenside, Elsdon and Kirkwhelpington. Working alongside Vattenfall, the role of this group will be to develop a vision for the community fund, drawing on the findings of the consultation, and to establish appropriate governance to manage the fund once it opens in early 2017. It is envisaged that the steering group will be made up with members ideally from each of the parishes in the immediate areas around the wind farm: Bavington, Birtley, Corsenside, Elsdon and Kirkwhelpington. Anyone from these five parishes, interested in joining the steering group can find out more from the Community Action Northumberland website here. Anyone wanting to get in touch about the Ray Wind Farm Community Fund can do so by emailing Julia Plinston from Community Action Northumberland: juliaplinston@ca-north.org.uk or by calling her on 01670 517178.
